Celebrate Motown at DPAC

One of the largest draws of audiences to the city of Durham is to the city’s Performing Arts Center. Opened in 2008, the center, commonly known as “DPAC,” has been listed as a top-quality venue and ranks high in attendance annually. DPAC has been named as the astounding No. 4 best theater in the United States.

DPAC is not only a theater for Broadway productions and concerts. It also hosts family events, comedy shows, and the famous American Dance Fetival. DPAC has been listed for four consecutive years as the No. 1 performing arts organization in the region by the Triangle Business Journal, according to the venue site.

The perfect first DPAC experience is quickly approaching. On August 29th, experience two legendary Motown original acts for one spectacular, unforgettable night. Come out to hear the tunes of the Temptations and the Four Tops later this month.

The Temptations, a household-name Motown group provide a smooth, rich combination of vocals with stylish dance moves. Songs like- “My Girl”, “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg” and “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” have given the Temptations the well-deserved title as the “emperors of soul”. Representing the gilded age of soul music, the Temptations reign supreme.

Perhaps one of the Four Tops’ greatest claims to fame is that they are one of the longest-running soul groups. The quartet perform classics like “Baby I Need Your Loving,” “I Can’t Help Myself,” “It’s the Same Old Song,” “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “Standing in the Shadows of Love” and “Bernadette.” The Four Tops have consistently, well, topped the charts and work hard, as well as the Temptations, to continue to play over 100 shows every year.
