Track or Treat
Ride the Ghost Train during New Hope Valley Railway’s 20th Track or Treat Halloween Express on Saturday, Oct. 24, and Saturday, Oct. 31, at 3900 Bonsal Road, New Hill.
The Ghost Train leaves at 4 p.m., 5:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. each day with an additional 2:30 p.m. trip on Oct. 31. Tickets are $13 for adults, teenagers and kids (free for ages 2 and younger). triangletrain.com.
‘Fright-Fest!’ at The Cary
Thursday, Oct. 29. “A Nightmare on Elm Street” is at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and “Wes Craven’s New Nightmare” at 9 p.m.
The Cary shows “Nosferatu” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, with music by the Mallarmé Chamber Players. “Poltergeist” follows at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The last “Fright-Fest” movie is “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. Admission to each movie is $5.
Fall festivals
▪ Festival 31 at First Baptist Church, Cary, with free games, food and inflatables is 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at 218 S. Academy St.
Trick or Treat
Kids can go trick or treating in downtown Fuquay-Varina from 2-5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Participating businesses will show “Trick or Treat Here!” signs.
Witches Tea

Goblin’s Groove
The Goblin’s Groove is 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Halle Cultural Arts Center, 237 N. Salem St., Apex. Admission is $5 per person ($2 for ages 2 and younger). Attendees are invited to wear costumes.
Haunted Hayride
Holly Springs’ Haunted Hayride runs from 7-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, and 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 31, at Sugg Farm, 2401 Grigsby Ave. Rides last about 20 to 25 minutes. Tickets cost $5 and are available in advance at the Holly Springs Cultural Center through Thursday, Oct. 29.
‘All Hallow’s Eve Eve’
The Cary Town Band’s free Halloween concert is at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave.
Safe-N-Sane Halloween Celebration
Cary’s Halloween storytelling, singalongs, costume contest and trick-or-treating will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Cary Towne Center, 1105 Walnut St.
Trick or Treat at Holly Springs fire stations
Firefighters will give out candy to children 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Fire Station 1, 700 Flint Point Lane, and Fire Station 2, 1140 Avent Ferry Road.
Station 1 will sell T-shirts for $15 to $25 to raise money to support breast cancer survivors through the Pretty in Pink Foundation.
