Triangle Chili Challenge

 The new event, originally scheduled Oct. 24, has been rescheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 in downtown Cary. Local restaurants and food trucks will compete in a multi-style chili contest to win the title of Best Chili in the Triangle. Tastings are free. The event is at 111 W. Chatham St., Cary, between Harrison Avenue and Academy Street. The event will run in conjunction with Downtown Cary Food & Flea, which is a monthly market that features local artists, craft makers, vintage items, local craft beer, music, food trucks and more.

Veterans Rally

The Exchange Club of Swift Creek Township will hold an 11/11@7 Rally at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, to raise awareness about homeless veterans at 6221 Yates Mill Pond Road, Raleigh. There will be hot dogs for sale, a bake sale and raffle. There will be 20 U.S. flags on display that will be available for purchase. Funds will go to Veterans Matter. To contribute, go to

American Legion Barbecue

Cary American Legion Post 67 will hold its annual barbecue fundraiser 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, at the post, 8523 Chapel Hill Road, Cary. Plates are dine-in or carry out for $9 and include barbecue pork or chicken and potatoes, green beans and rolls.
