NC is a great place to live, and it’s almost that time of year again to head to the beach!
Cape Hatteras National Seashore on the Outer Banks of North Carolina has been named one of the “10 Best Beaches for Families in 2016” by travel site FamilyVacationCritic.com.
Cape Hatteras is “widely known for its pristine beaches, water sports, boating tours, and vacation home rentals (more like mansions) galore,” says the blog.
It’s the only North Carolina beach on the list.
Note: The “Every Kid in a Park” initiative of the National Park Service allows fourth graders to visit its attractions at no charge, including the Wright Brothers Memorial.
Corolla is No. 4 on a ranking of American beaches, according to a recent report by lifestyle website PureWow, reported by Huffington Post.
“This wide, unspoiled Outer Banks beach has an added attraction: herds of wild Mustangs (descended from horses that escaped from Spanish explorers in the 1500s) that roam freely,” says the site about Corolla, located in the northern Outer Banks.
So how did the OBX fare in the recent winter storm? The N.C. Department of Transportation reports that N.C. 12 between mileposts 2 and 4 in Kitty Hawk was closed for several hours Sunday due to water and debris in the road, and there was some flooding in the highway in Buxton, according to WNCN.
